December 15
- Planned out first iteration of layers
- Contacted Gore, Dupont, and 3M asking for samples of GoreTex, Mylar 800, and Thinsulate.
- A few hours later and Gore (predictably) said no.
- 3M got back to me today. They say a local rep will contact me within 3-5 business days. At least its not no....
- Probably using PA6 instead of PTFE. Not quite as nice of a material, but more than good enough. Also usually comes treated for water repulsion
- Soooo, I'm going to go talk to the nice folks at Joann and buy some stuff.
- Got conference thing with Heidt done
- Heidt says look into polartech.
- Bought fabrics
- I did pretty much squat-o during break. Sorry.
- However, I got some preliminary fabric cuts done and will probably have them together by tomorrow. It'll be ugly, but it's just for evaluation at this point to see if they work.
- So the PA fabric is really water repelling. Like fun rolling drops of water repelling. I may or may not have played with it for 20 minutes.
- Put some stuff together with the sewing machine yesterday. Maybe it will actually work. Maybe not. Who knows.
- I've also got fleece-stuff lined fingers done and ready to attach whenever I figure out how to do palms and backs.
- Did some sketches to figure out how I'm going to attach everything. Now I just need to scale it correctly.
